My Angel is a half-acre development, located at 8547 N Sepulveda Blvd in the North Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, located between a single-family residential neighborhood and a commercial corridor. The development will include 53 studio units for veterans and individuals transitioning out of homelessness. LA Family Housing (LAFH) has received all necessary financing and permits for this project and officially began construction on March 7, 2022

My Angel was made possible thanks to the generosity of the late retired Army veteran Hal Kassner and his wife Sue. Hal operated Angel Appliances, a beloved Valley retailer, for nearly 60 years, the last 50 of which were on the site where My Angel is currently being constructed. When Hal sold the business in 2016, it was important to him to donate the land to someone who could build homes for veterans on the site because he was a veteran himself. He wanted the opportunity to invest in other veterans to allow them to have a future, too.

With a combination of funding from the City of Los Angeles through Prop HHH funds and the Kassners' meaningful donation, this half-acre development will provide a safe and supportive community for those in need. We extend our deepest gratitude to Hal Kassner for his selfless act of donating the land and making his vision of housing for veterans a reality. Scheduled to complete construction in late 2023, My Angel is a testament to the power of compassion and community coming together to create lasting change.
